In our last blog post: "Improving your mental health in lockdown" we spoke about five ways to boost your mental health with the final tip being a reminder that social media is not everything, it can be toxic. Instead of taking a break you can choose to flood your social media feeds with positivity.

So, here are our top five favourite positive influencers:

1.    @dralexgeorge

Following on from going for a walk (stomp) tip in our last blog post (click here to read the last post). Doctor Alex George posts regularly on Instagram detailing what he is doing, from highlighting the injustices of mental health support for young people to the UK Government, working full time as an A&E doctor, what he’s having for dinner and everything in between. During lockdown he has taken a light-hearted upbeat approach to inspiring others.

2.     @selfcarespotlight

This account has helped us throughout lockdown to reflect on our goals and reminds us always that self-care is important! Through cute pastel coloured quotes and reminders to brighten up your feed, whilst providing a sense of perspective.

3.     @gracefvictory

With a following of over 246k followers on Instagram and 222k subscribers on YouTube, Grace is known for being unapologetically herself and an advocator for self-love and positive mental wellbeing. Grace has recently became a new mum (congratulations!) and has openly shared the highs and lows of her pregnancy on both her YouTube and Instagram platforms to adoring fans, that love her for being real instead of creating false appearances. That is why we love Graces’ posts, flooding our Instagram feeds with body positivity and unapologetically herself.

4.     @wearefeelgoodclub

Ran by wives: Kiera and Aimie (@wearefeelgoodclub) posts peach coloured reminders aimed to motivate and provoke thought, with every second post a list of five things on a current issue. One of our fav posts is “5 things almost a year of lockdown has got us feeling” (link here).

5.     @yer_awrite

This account posts funny and inspirational quotes written in Scottish slang, also following their theme of the joyful colour of yellow. Scrolling down my Instagram feed this account brightens up my day as the yellow posts are eye catching and hilarious, it’s as if an old Scottish granny is offering you advice.
